Additional warrants have been issued for the arrest of Maximino (“Max”) Mendoza Miranda, Jr., who is a suspect in a stabbing incident that occurred in the early morning hours of September 5in Front Royal. The additional warrants charge Miranda with attempted murder, an additional count of malicious wounding, and breaking and entering with the intent to commit murder.
According to Front Royal Police Chief Richard H. Furr, Miranda is being sought in connection with an incident on Lewis Street that was reported to police at 3:59 am on Sunday. The caller reported that Miranda, an ex-boyfriend, had broken into her house and stabbed her and her current boyfriend. Miranda had fled the scene when police arrived. The female victim was transported to Warren Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released for minor injuries. The male victim was flown by helicopter to Winchester Medical Center, where he is listed in critical but stable condition with multiple stab wounds.
Miranda, whose last known address is listed as 20 West 17th Street, Front Royal, is described as a Hispanic male, 18 years of age, black hair, brown eyes, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 140 pounds.
The Front Royal Police Department is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Miranda. It is unknown at this time if Miranda is armed, but extreme caution should be used if he is encountered.
