Update: Record turnout in Virginia

Richmond – Voters in Virginia are are coming to the polls in what will be a record turnout according to a spokesman from the Virginia State Board of Elections during a 5:30 pm briefing.

Approximately 10% of Virginia registered voters cast their ballots absentee prior to today’s election in Virginia, according to a spokesman. Another 30% had voted in person by 10:00 am today. That number grew to about 50% by lunchtime.

The next hour-and-a-half is expected to be the busiest. Anyone in line at 7:00 pm will be allowed to vote.

Initial results are expected after 8:00 pm through the morning due to the high amount of participation.
