Dam removal an ’emergency’ – new Front Royal mayor

Front Royal Mayor Tim Darr has called a special meeting of Town Council to discuss the removal of Riverton Dam, which claimed the life of a 9 year old boy this week.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING

TO: All Members of the Town Council of the Town of Front Royal, Virginia

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that, pursuant to Section 11 of the Town Charter of the Town of Front Royal, Virginia, I have received a written request from Timothy W. Darr, Mayor of the said Town, to call a Special Meeting of the Front Royal Town Council on July 6, 2010, in the Conference Room at Town Hall, 16 North Royal Avenue, Front Royal, Virginia.

THE PURPOSE of this meeting is to act on a Resolution declaring the demolition of the Riverton Dam an “emergency” within the meaning of Section 2.2-4302 (F) of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended.

This Notice is being transmitted via e-mail to each and every Member of the Front Royal Town Council, and to media representatives who have requested such notification.
