On April 30, 2010, Deputy R. D. Lowery of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling westbound Interstate 66 in Warren County. Deputy Lowery observed a gray 1990 Lexus weaving between travel lanes. Deputy Lowery stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver and lone occupant, Knowledge Aziz Zahir, age 39, of 1423 Mount Clinton Pike, Harrisonburg, Va. While conducting his traffic stop, Deputy Lowery requested K9 assistance. Deputy Laney of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office arrived with her Narcotic K9 “Ally” and performed an exterior search of the vehicle. K9 Ally alerted to the vehicle and an interior search was performed by Deputy Lowery. Deputy Lowery located nine (9) watch baggies containing a brown powdery substance and one (1) Ziploc type baggie containing a brown powdery substance. The substance was field tested and tested positive as Heroin. Deputy Lowery also located a set of digital scales and five hundred dollars in U.S. currency.
According to Sheriff Daniel T. McEathron, Zahir was arrested and charged for possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture, sell, give, or distribute. Zahir was transported to the Warren County Jail and the magistrate ordered him held without bond.
