Israeli dissent: ‘Israel is like the abused child who grows up to be the abuser.’

The 1967 war between Israel and Egypt, Jordan, and Syria was born of a lie that Israel had to wage a pre-emptive attack to defend itself, much as George Bush said the US had to wage a pre-emptive attack against Iraq because it had weapons of mass destruction.
Declassified documents in recent years of statements by Israeli Minister of Defense Moshe Dayan reveal the contrary. Since then, in violation of more than 100 UN resolutions and the Geneva Conventions, not to mention the international standard of unlawful aggression the US held Iraq to as justification for the first Gulf War in 1991, Israel has retained control of the Occupied Territories it captured in 1967 and committed numerous atrocities reported in its own media, to which the US is complicit in its American-made, Americanpaid DC9 Caterpillars, F16s, and Apache helicopters, among other weapons.
The Occupied Territories includes the Gaza Strip, a small 25 x 6 mile area bordering the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, inhabited by 1.5 million Palestinians, 20 percent of whom and their forefathers have lived there for centuries. Eighty percent are refugees created when 750,000 Palestinians were forced or fled in fear from their homes in what is now Israel in April 1948, before the first Arab-Israeli war. They and their forefathers had lived there for 1600 years since the 7th century.
For 42 years, Israel has had tight control over Gaza, making it the world’s largest prison. No one may leave or enter without an Israeli permit. When its troops left in 2005, Israel left 44 acres of massive rubble when it demolished Jewish-only housing rather than leave it for the Gazans to use as an act of good faith since it had illegally occupied the land so long.
But Israel retained control of Gaza’s air, land, and sea, and the money they earn on produce and other products, and imposed a blockade on food, fuel, water, electricity, medicine, even ink and paper and parts and supplies necessary for a viable economy.
Because of this, thousands of Palestinians are starving, hopeless, and helpless. It is the middle of winter, they are freezing and without fuel, food or money. In an open and democratic election in 2005, Hamas was elected.
Hamas has refused to recognize Israel’s right to exist based on Israel’s refusal to accept the existence of a Palestinian state and their rights to human dignity, freedom and security. Despite this, Hamas immediately offered Israel a 10-year ceasefire and acceptance of a 2-state solution if Israel would agree to return to the 1967 borders. Israel refused. Hamas abided by its own 18-month unilateral truce.
In June 2008, Hamas and Israel agreed to a 6-month truce during which Israel was to relax its blockade.
Israel immediately breached that part, and would not even allow Gazans to fish within 3 miles of their own coast without a permit, stringently enforced.
On November 4, Israel again breached the truce by entering Gaza, killing 6 Palestinians, and sealing the borders, denying food and all necessities, foreign journalists and dignitaries, including President Carter. On Dec 27, Israel launched its massive assault despite the fact that not one Israeli had died during the past year from a Qassam Rocket. Hamas responded with its only weapons, Qassam Rockets, killing 4 Israelis. Since Israel’s attack with American weapons, hundreds of Palestinians have been killed, 3,000 wounded, and their entire infrastructure destroyed or seriously damaged, including homes, the American school, the university, dormitories, stores, markets, fishing boats, the Gaza mental heath center. This massacre, planned six months in advance, is not about Hamas or rockets but about Israel’s upcoming elections and denying the right of a Palestinian state. On January 14, nine Israeli human rights organizations issued a letter stating that “This kind of fighting constitutes a blatant violation of the laws of warfare and raises the suspicion, which we ask be investigated, of the commission of war crimes.” http://www.btselem.org/English/ See its accompanying report on “The Humanitarian Collapse in the Gaza Strip.”
Had Israel wanted peace, it would have returned the occupied territories to the Palestinians, the rightful owners under international law; it would have accepted the Saudi peace initiatives offered in 2002 and 2007, which all 21 Arab states signed, recognizing Israel and offering it permanent peace in return for an Israeli withdrawal from lands captured in 1967, establishing a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital and a just solution to the issue of Palestinian refugees.

Excellent article – stating the facts -on what led up to the present destruction of Gaza and what is happening now. Americans need to research for themselves and not rely on the TV to tell them what is happening in Gaza as so much of it is Israeli Propaganda. Shame on the Congress for supporting Israel and the taking of so many innocent lives. What is happening to our humanity – why are we not supporting basic human rights for all – and instead siding with an Apartheid state with our money and military equipment.

You are seriously confused about who is giving the orders to whom and who is doing the dirty work.
As the world,s leading power, it is in our utmost and vital interest to see the rest of the world weak and divided.
We are very lucky and blessed to have found a nation which is willing to do all our dirty work for US. Including the sacrifice of their people and shedding of their children’s blood.

Perhaps Elizabeth’s reference to Israel’s refusal to acknowledge the existence of the Palestinian state refers not to the politics around Resolution 181, but the current facts, which are that Israel behaves as if it has an absolute to control Palestinian movements within their own territory, trade and commerce, free movement, passage of essential goods, etc. Israel, in defiance of its own commitments, continues to annex Palestinian lands for illegal settlements and the construction of its security barrrier (which could have been built not deep within the West Bank itself on Palestinian land but on the internationally recognised Green Line.)
It has not recognised that, however unpleasant many of their policies and conduct are, Hamas is the democratically elected government of Gaza. Palestinians vote for Hamas in part because Hamas provides many of the basic social services which Israel tries to block.
In other words, IN PRACTICE Israel does not recognise the territorial integrity or sovereignty of the Palestinians. So Israel’s rhetorical acceptance of the rights of the Palestinian state means nothing.
@ Elizabeth, very small point, The newspaper in the UK is the Independent (not Independence). The Observer is the Sunday sister paper to the daily Guardian, which is probably more reliable than the Observer (which supported the Iraq war, based on naive acceptance of intelligence data fed to them by US and UK security sources – this is carefully documented in the Nick Davies book, Flat Earth News).

Your dismissal of this well-argued analysis as “propaganda and nonsense” is irrational and unjustified. Get your own facts straight — UN Resolution 181 was the General Assembly’s decision to partition Palestine into Jewish and Arab states at behest of the British without any input or consideration for the rights of its majority Arab population.
Palestinians already had their “state” before it was carved up by a handful of major powers pulling the levers at the UN. The sad “fact” is that not much has changed since then.

A few days ago, President Bush 43, invided the three previous president and the president-elect Obama, to the white house for a small conference.
The main purpose of the meeting was to indoctrinate the pro Arab Obama with the “New World Order”.
They explained to Mr. Obama that whatever his true feelings are and regardless how he felt towards the Palestinians in particular and the rest of the Arab world in general, when it came to what is best for America and “the new world order”, is to back and support Israel 100%, regardless.

But that was years ago, and nothing good has happened since then. On the contrary, thousands of more Palestinians have been massacred by the jews and they have gotten away with more than 100 UN resolutions against them, which the US vetoed!
I can assure you, if the jews had killed immediate family members and childhood friends of yours, taken your ancestral home and property of yours at gun-point and thrown you our of your country and home, you will not be sitting thre saying these things.

I have read the Molchany article published in the Warren County Report newspaper. I found it brilliant, accurate, and a rare honest look at the depredations committed by Israel on a totally outmatched population in Gaza. Israel is able to wreak havoc, rain phosphorus bombs on women and children, demolish homes, flatten entire neighborhoods, all thanks to unlimited armaments and murdering helicopters provided and paid for by the US taxpapers.
For the 100 US Senators, each of whom has been bamboozled, intimidated and brainwashed, we need to send even more arms for Israel to do its dirty work. Is it just a coincidence that the entire world outside Israel and the U.S. is totally repelled by Israeli’s inhumane behavior? Not at all. Israel has made it a successful policy to exert all possible influence on an effective and willing patron, and that is the U.S. Our Senators and our political candidates, down to the lowest levels, are offered friendship tours to Israel, where they are shown only one side of the situation. These so-called veteran observers then return to their American homes and prattle on with the cliches and garbage about “Israel is our only ally in the Middle East,” or “Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East.”
We have earned the enmity of most of the world community, and in the case of radical Islamists, they have parlayed this negativity into horrendous anti-American actions such as the 9/11 bombings.
As indicated to me by an Israeli newspaper columnist during my recent visit to Israel and to Palestine (paid for from my own pocket), the simplest path to peace in the Middle East is to cut off the outlandish sums American taxpayers are providing Israel year after year. Certainly that would have some effect on the Israeli killing machine.
There are a few (such as the one named Pola in one of the above letters) who asks how we Americans would feel if rockets were lobbed over our lands for unending years. My answer to Pola and to like-minded Jewish propagandists is to ask: If your land is illegally occupied, contrary to a multitude of UN resolutions, and contrary to international law, and if talk won’t right this wrong, what are you supposed to do? When the Germans occupied France in the second war, the French Resistance took actions far more lethal than the harmless Hamas rockets. The way the Germans responded was to execute the population of entire villages (Oradour-sur-Glane is a good example). How does the present and disproportionate outrage by the Israeli forces differ from the German occupiers in France?

Unfortunately this problem is much deeper than what any average Americancan can see or understand.
To find a solution to this very serious problem is very simple. You should go to the original source and look into what is causing the problem.
The Jews helped the allies during WW2 by spying on Hitler. In return Hitler started cleansing the Jews.
The Allies took action to save the Jews but it was a little late. Close to 300,000 Jews were massacred with millions of other enemies of Hitler.
Once Hitler was under controle, the Allies realized that the Arabs had started discovering oil and soon they will be a vital threat to the West.
That is when the US and its European allies decided to create Israel in the heart of the Arab world, to make sure that the Arabs are kept weak and divided.
The manovering that Truman played at the UN was very smart and damaging to the Arabs. He threatened all those third world countries to vote for the creation of Israel or lose all the aid they were receiving from the US.
Right here, you can noticed that the creation of Israel based on a mythological phenomenon is totally absurd and ridiculous. Less than 7% of the population of Palestine were Jews around the turn of the last century. Now they have 15 million Jews who came from all over the world to live in a land that was never theirs…!
I read an article by Pat Buchanan today that made my hair stand up.
Condi Rice prepares a resolution about the ceace-fire in Gaza and is about to put it for a vote at the UN. The Israeli ambassador at the UN finds out about the contends and calls Olmert immediately.
Apparently, there was one line in the resolution that did not give enough praise for the Israeli actions in Gaza. Mind you, nothing harsh about Israel, just not enough praise for their atrocities…!
Olmert calls Pres. Bush immediately and is told that Bush is in the middle of a speech in Philadelphia and cannot be interrupted.
Olmert says “just tell him that I want to speak to him”. Bush interrupts his speech and goes and picks-up the phone.
Olmert says “just tell that bitch to vote against that resolution and veto it”.
Bush apologizes and calls Rice immediately and orders her to veto the resolution.
Condi Rice, that earlier in the day had asked all the US allies to vote for the resolution, looked like an idiot when she stood there at the UN and voted against her own resolution!

VIENNA, Austria – Arab nations accused Israel on Monday of blasting Gaza with ammunition containing depleted uranium and urged the International Atomic Energy Agency to investigate reports that traces of it had been found in victims of the shelling.
In a letter on behalf of Arab ambassadors accredited in Austria, Prince Mansour Al-Saoud, the Saudi Ambassador, expressed “our deep concern regarding the information … that traces of depleted uranium have been found in Palestinian victims.”
A final draft of the letter was made available to The Associated Press on Monday. It urgently requested IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei to “carry out a radiological and physical assessment in order to verify the presence of depleted uranium in the weaponry used by Israel … in the Gaza Strip.”
Officials at the Israeli mission to the IAEA said they were in no position to comment without having seen the letter.
IAEA spokeswoman Melissa Fleming confirmed receipt of the letter and said a response might be issued later in the day.
The letter — which spoke of “medical and media sources” as the origin of its allegations — appeared to be alluding to health concerns related to depleted uranium but the effects of exposure to the substance are unclear.
An IAEA article on the issue says that while the substance “is assumed to be potentially carcinogenic … the lack of evidence for a definite cancer risk in studies over many decades is significant and should put the results of assessments in perspective.”
Still, says the article, “there is a risk of developing cancer from exposure to radiation emitted by … depleted uranium. This risk is assumed to be proportional to the dose received.”
It is not the first time Israel has been accused of using ordnance containing depleted uranium, which makes shells and bombs harder and increases their penetrating power. The Israeli army declined comment. But the U.S. and NATO have used uranium-depleted rounds in Bosnia and Iraq.
According to the World Health Organization, the weapons are lightly radioactive, though “under most circumstances, use of DU will make a negligible contribution to the overall natural background levels of uranium in the environment.”
But researchers have suspected depleted uranium may be behind a range of chronic symptoms suffered by veterans of the 1990-91 Gulf War. Some of the symptoms include memory and thinking problems, debilitating fatigue, severe muscle and joint pain, depression, anxiety, insomnia, headaches and rashes.
Syria, which is being investigated by the Vienna-based agency for alleged secret nuclear activities, says traces of uranium found by IAEA experts at a site bombed by Israel jets Sept. 6, 2007 likely came from bombs or missiles used by the Israelis.
The Israelis have denied using such weaponry in that raid, and on Monday two diplomats accredited to the IAEA and familiar with its Syria investigations told the AP that the agency has virtually ruled out Israeli munitions as the source of the uranium. They asked for anonymity for discussing confidential information.
The IAEA investigation is based in part on intelligence from the U.S., Israel and a third, unidentified country, alleging that the bombed site was a nearly completed nuclear reactor built with North Korean help and meant to produce plutonium — which can be used as the payload of nuclear weapons.
The uranium traces were revealed by an analysis of environmental samples collected by IAEA experts during a visit to the site, in a remote part of the Syrian desert. Since that initial trip in June 2008, Syria has refused or deflected requests for follow up inspections both to the site and others allegedly linked to it.

I did think of something else while writing this though and I’d like to say something else, just for the record. I don’t support politicians but one has been terribly misquoted in the mainstream media and I actually agree with him though I don’t necessarily agree with his politics. He’s been seriously misquoted on the subject of Israel so just for posterity and for those who may read here after me I’d like to leave his quote with the Farsi translation.
