As Election Day 2008 kicks off, local polling places are already experiencing a high volume of residents seeking to cast their votes in this highly anticipated race.

According to Van Rouse, chief of the Park View precinct in the Sterling District, located at the Park View High, more 1,150 people had turned out at the polls as of noon, which was reflective of the massive turnout expected by county and state officials. Dianna Johnson Price, secretary of the county Electoral Broad, said that the Virginia State Electoral Board estimated the turnout to exceed 90 percent statewide.
